WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT THE HOW ARTISTS SEE SERIES:
On How Artists See Families: Colleen Carroll has written an inquiry-based art appreciation book for children that my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed. The book embraces a multicultural approach by selecting sixteen men and women artists who define in their work what family is for them. The author raises challenging questions for the reader to examine the work at hand. The text not only sparks the child's imagination by making inquiries but occasionally uses cross referencing of art works in the book to compare and challenge the thought process. I highly recommend this book!
-- Joanne Forman (New York, NY)
[How Artists See the Weather is a] wonderful way for elementary age children to learn about art. I was delighted by the scope of artists and artistic styles discussed in the book. It is difficult to find books that teach art (history) in a meaningful way to children. The explanation of techniques used, as well as the biographies of the artists, were helpful and interesting. Using the "everyday" element of weather makes it easier for children to relate to as well. I hope there will be more books like this one.
-- Laura Clark (Houston, TX)
My daughter is crazy about your books. They are by far her preferred "before bedtime" reading material. Also-I enjoyed all the info: I especially like the questions and challenges set forth. What a remarkable collection for my daughter to grow with!

WHAT STUDENTS SAY ABOUT THE HOW ARTISTS SEE SERIES:
I am in my last year of law school at the University of Buffalo. Recently, a campus organization was accepting donations for children's books to distribute to disadvantaged children in the community. I went shopping for books to donate and I found your series. I felt compelled to let you know how wonderful I think your books are. You are truly a gifted author and educator. I look forward to reading your books with my own children in the near future.
-- Cheryl Heyman (Buffalo, NY)
I think that your books are a good and different way to look at art. I was able to dig deeper into the meaning of the artwork by answering the author's questions.
-- Madelyn C. (Age 12 - Newport Beach, CA)
WHAT ARTISTS SAY ABOUT THE HOW ARTISTS SEE SERIES:
[How Artists See Animals is] A fantastic introduction of an artist's vision for children...eye-catching, interesting, imaginative, and inspiring. These are things that hold a young person's attention and give them the interest to pursue art. Colleen Carroll had collected a fine group of art pieces that does all of these, plus her writing of the art and the artists help young people see not only animals, but everything in a different way. She asks many questions to help a child think and imagine. I think this is a fantastic book that should be in every child's library, even if most of the artists in the book are dead...oh...except for me! My painting is on page 32.
